Personally I think the hype around vaccines causing autism were over blown. We avoided vaccines during key developmental phases - like when speech is being developed, just in case. And I feel for parents with autistic kids - it's hard enough without the added dread.

So this article from PhysOrg.com spells out Dr Wakefield's evil plan. But I immediately go to Jennifer McCarthy's site to see what's up. I give her credit for being ready and responsive. I still think she used her celebrity to back alarmist science.

Comparing US states with countries: US equivalents | The Economist

They always talk about California's economy being the 8th largest in the world. This map from the Economist twists that a bit and equates US states with other countries. California equates to Italy. I think 8th largest sounds better than, "about the same as Italy."
